Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. She anchors SportsNation as well as a SportsCenter anchor. She was hired by ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. The child of television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was bilingual since the age of nine years old, a valuable skill that helped her secure her first position in the production department for Univision in Miami which provided her with the opportunity to work with the producers of national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was hired as a reporter by the CBS station to work as a sports journalist. Then she moved into Rio Grande Valley in 2009 as a reporter for one of the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. Covering stories related to drug trafficking and immigration on both sides the Texas-Mexico Border, she served as an anchor for the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm, a news reporter with a news anchor in English at 9 pm and the news anchor was on until 10pm before returning back to KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. Also, she would fill in occasionally as a weather and sports anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate where she took on other responsibilities. She also did segments on Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor herself. The show was commissioned as a sports anchor by Despierta America Deportes for their morning show. It was the same role in Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo for the UniMas Network. Antonietta Collin's parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. She was born November 22, 1985 in Mexico City. She has an elder sister. The family moved to Miami after relocating from Mexico to the US. Her parents divorced soon after in 1995. Her mother remarried an architect from the naval profession named Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. In the summer in 2006 she took an entire week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked at the time. Antonietta still a senior at high school, yet she was clear about the career she wanted. So while assessing if Mount Union is the right choice to her needs, Antonietta went to visit the school. In the end she was enthralled with the campus. And they offered her major. Following her graduation from her high school education, she chose to go to the university to pursue a degree with Media Studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the manager of WRMU's 91.1FM station, where she was employed for a number of years, was her friend. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her confidence, and his passion for Journalism deeply touched her. As a result, she determined to meet his demands and never let him down.
